Why Are We Called The Billys? (How We Almost Became the Annette Club)
Co-founders Terry Brown and Richard DiGiulio call each other Billy, as a term of endearment, and became known to their friends in Ukiah as the Billys. Co-founder Ron Vanscoyk tells the entire story of how we got our name. By the way, we are not a baton fetish club, a lesbian tennis team, nor a gay goat herders group.
Registration for Gatherings
You can register and pay online with a credit/debit card/PayPal, or on a paper form with a check. The email or paper you get will tell you more, including login information for registering online. If you signed up with us after we already sent that email, contact the office for assistance. To register for Billy gatherings online, go to our web site and click on the login tab at the top. Our communal username is billy and our communal password is heartspace.
Something About Our Fees
We try very hard to get you to a Billy gathering, even if you cannot afford it. The way we do that, is the Richard Locke Scholarship Fund (RLSF). You apply for that when you register, subject to deadlines and fund availability. Read more below.
Do You Have to Camp?
No, you don't have to camp. There is always indoor housing available, especially in Winter months. Asking for help pitching your tent is a fun way to make new friends, as is sharing a make-up mirror. Read more below.
What a Great Vacation!
Well, we could use some help in the kitchen, and in fact, we only pay the facility we rent, the cook, and the resource coordinator (the Billy office manager). We really use dozens of volunteers to make the gatherings happen. You will be asked to pitch in during the gathering. Consider coordinating some part of the gathering, it's another way to make new friends. Read more below.
What Else Do Billys Do?
The Billy Foundation is used to support the gatherings, but we have other activities that do not fall under the responsibility of the Billy Foundation board of directors. We have potlucks, we hike, we play music and virtually we get along on BilleNet, our email listserve.
