Welcome!!
The Billys is a community of hundreds of open-hearted gay, bi and queer men who join together in Gatherings six times a year in extraordinary rural venues throughout Northern California. Each gathering is a work of art, carefully crafted by Billys to take us to places of joy and playfulness, intimacy and openness. We come together to play games, hike, make yummy food, play music, cuddle, meditate, frolic, do yoga and learn from each other.
The crown jewel of nearly every Billy event is something we call Heart Circle – a time to share what’s on our hearts and listen with an open-heart. It is the juice that has kept our community going since 1988. Between gatherings, some Billys meet for potlucks and Heart Circles, for hikes or to help each other out, to do fund-raising or to attend cultural events together.
Upcoming Gatherings
Mid Winter
We start the year with a Mid Winter gathering, involving a fixed theme such as Embracing Age, Sex and Spirit, Fathers and Sons, and Friendship and Intimacy. Or we hold a Vision Retreat involving the entire Billy community.
May Day
Traditionally, our May Day gathering is a time for a fabulous May Pole ritual, reconnecting with nature, and celebrating the return of luxurious Spring.
July 4
Food, frolicking, swimming, and heart space, not necessarily in that order, are the keywords for our most rambunctious and active gathering of the year. And let’s not forget our remarkable Billy Art Show!
Get involved!
Eating, swimming and frolicking in the woods are only half the story. What goes on behind every gathering is a community of people offering their vision and talents to create these magical events. The payoff? Being part of an intentional community and sharing one’s unique skills and open heart.
